of the Sentinel Konah
On Jan. 12, 2018, Athletic Director Dane Oliver was awarded with the MIA AA Athletic Director of The Year Award. This honor is given to a person who has outstanding teams, great performance, and a solid coaching staff.
He was very humbled and excited about this award. Oliver was happy to know that his coaching staff and athletes were doing the best that they could.
“The award is earned after the success of your teams, school culture, and it all really goes back to the coaches and the teams,” Oliver said.
And the coaches and sports teams really do pull through. With wins across the board from basketball to wrestling, the award is showing not only the leadership and success of an athletic director, but also the will to succeed from our own Sentinel sports teams.
“We are just super lucky to have a lot of tenured coaches with us that keep the kids motivated,” Oliver said after being asked about deciding who gets to coach.
The award was giving to Oliver at a meeting in Bozeman, where he gratefully accepted it.
He talked about how it takes more than just a single person to earn an award like that. The coaching staff and the Sentinel athletes put in their hearts every single day.
“This all goes back to those coaches and the athletes,” Oliver said when answering how he earned this award.
When talking to Oliver, he was proud to know that he has such great people working in the athletics department. This award was earned through the hard work and determination of a team of willing athletes. The award is a summation of leadership and a victory for Sentinel.
