The boys’ and girls’ soccer season is nearing its close, but both teams have shown much success. The boys’ record is 6-1-2, while the girls are 6-2-1.
Senior Brittany Delridge, centerfielder said her goal this year is to “Win state!” Although she admits the girls had a bit of a “rough patch,” she thinks the team will “peak at state when it matters.”
Goalkeeper Rebekah Joy, feels her greatest accomplishment for the season is “stopping shots” and shares the same goal as Delridge.
“Our goal is to win the state championship and do better than we did last year,” Joy said.
On the boys’ side, Senior Co-Captain Griffin Line said, “I feel pretty good about the season so far and we’re number one in our conference right now and we’ve been playing pretty good and pretty strong. We work really well together and we have high skills and it’s fun to just chill together. My favorite thing about playing for Sentinel is just the atmosphere and it’s always a fun time, Lochridge is always fun to play for.”
Senior Co-Captain Hunter Vancleave, who plays forward, shares the state dream, and believes this year’s seniors have really come together, which makes for strong leadership in every position.
Assistant coach Sam Dixon said, “There’s been a lot of improvement. We’ve been a little bit more organized both offensively and defensively. So far everyone has improved. My goal for this season is for the athletes to play as good as possible at every game and get good results in the end.”
